Surprise Balloon Delivery Etiquette
Simple guidance for sending a thoughtful balloon bouquet surprise with the right details in place.
Explore ready-to-buy bouquetsA surprise balloon delivery can turn an ordinary day into a memorable one. Whether you are celebrating a birthday, welcoming a new baby, marking an engagement or simply reminding someone that you are thinking of them, a balloon bouquet is cheerful, visible and easy to enjoy. The best surprises, however, are not only about the gift itself. They also respect the recipient’s time, privacy, location and practical circumstances.
This guide explains how to plan a considerate balloon delivery with Air & Adorn. We offer ready-to-buy balloon bouquets for delivery across Wicklow and South Dublin, with a flat €10 delivery fee. You can choose a six- or 12-balloon size, book at least 24 hours ahead and enter the delivery address securely at checkout. With a little information from you, we can also deliver to a venue when a named recipient and suitable access details are supplied.
1. Decide whether a surprise is right for the recipient
A surprise should feel kind, not awkward. Think about the person’s personality and current situation. Some people love an unexpected doorstep delivery; others prefer advance notice, particularly if they work irregular hours, live in a shared building or have a busy family routine. You do not need to reveal the full surprise, but it is sensible to check that they can receive something on the planned date.
Consider the setting too. A birthday bouquet may suit home, while an engagement or congratulations bouquet could be easier at a workplace or celebration venue. If the recipient is in a hospital, care facility, school or another building with delivery rules, check first whether balloons are accepted and where deliveries should be left.
Air & Adorn bouquets are ready-to-buy collections rather than bespoke installations. That makes the choice straightforward: select a suitable collection, choose six or 12 balloons and arrange delivery to the appropriate address. Browse the shop to compare available bouquets before deciding.
2. Choose the right date and allow time for booking
A planned surprise is more reliable than a rushed one. Air & Adorn requires a minimum booking lead time of 24 hours, so place your order at least a day before the intended delivery. For a particular celebration, ordering earlier gives you more time to confirm the address, speak with the venue and make sure the recipient can accept the bouquet.
Avoid promising the recipient that a delivery will arrive immediately or on the same day. Air & Adorn does not offer same-day delivery. Instead, choose a date that allows the booking to be processed and gives the recipient a reasonable chance of being present. If you are coordinating with a venue, ask about its receiving hours and access arrangements before you book.
The flat delivery fee is €10 within the service area. Delivery is available across Wicklow and South Dublin, not nationwide. See the delivery page for service information.
3. Give accurate recipient and access information
The most useful surprise is one that can be handed over without guesswork. Enter the full delivery address securely at checkout, including the recipient’s name and any details needed to identify the correct entrance, reception desk, apartment block or business. If a building has a concierge, reception team or restricted entrance, mention that in the relevant order information where possible.
For a venue delivery, a named recipient is essential. Supply the person’s name, the venue name and clear access details, such as the reception point, building entrance or department. If the venue has a contact person or a preferred delivery procedure, include that information too. Do not assume that a driver can locate a recipient from a first name alone or gain access to a private or restricted area.
Check spelling, house or unit numbers, postcode details and contact information before completing checkout. An incorrect address can delay a surprise. If the recipient has moved recently, confirm the address discreetly rather than relying on an old contact.
4. Keep the surprise considerate at home, work or a venue
Think about how the delivery will be received in public. A workplace surprise can be lovely, but the recipient may be in a meeting, serving customers or unable to carry a bouquet home easily. If you know their schedule, choose a less disruptive time. A home address may be more comfortable when someone can receive it.
For apartment buildings, shared houses and offices, make sure the named recipient is recognisable to the receiving team. If another person may accept the delivery, tell them enough to keep the surprise safe. Avoid asking for balloons to be left unattended outside, in an exposed lobby or where they could obstruct access. A secure, permitted handover is more thoughtful than a dramatic reveal.
Venue deliveries need extra care. Contact the venue yourself to confirm that balloons are permitted and that its staff can accept them. Supply the recipient’s name and access details to Air & Adorn, but do not expect a venue to store a bouquet indefinitely. If the event is taking place in a large or busy location, make the collection point as specific as possible.
5. Match the bouquet and message to the moment
The bouquet should reflect the occasion without making assumptions about the recipient. Air & Adorn’s ready-to-buy collections make it easy to start with the purpose of the gift. You might explore birthday balloons, new baby balloons, engagement balloons, seasonal balloons or the signature balloons collection.
Choose six balloons for a warm, simple gesture or 12 for a fuller presentation. The right size depends on the occasion, available space and how easily the bouquet will be carried or displayed. Neither option is inherently more thoughtful; choose the one that fits the recipient.
Because the bouquets are ready to buy, review the collection details before ordering rather than requesting personalisation or a custom arrangement. If you need a bespoke installation, this service may not be the right fit. For questions about ordering and delivery, visit the FAQ.
